Summit of the Balkan Peaks

Under Review

Description: This vintage definitive postage stamp was issued by the People's Republic of Bulgaria (НАРОДНА РЕПУБЛИКА) to showcase the nation's iconic alpine topography. The central design depicts a dramatic landscape view of Mount Malyovitsa (МАЛЬОВИЦА), located in the northwestern northwestern section of the Rila Mountain range. Rendered in a deep, single-color sepia-brown ink via fine photogravure printing, the layout features the mountain’s famous twin crags rising sharply above a steep valley floor dotted with native evergreen pine trees. The words "НАРОДНА РЕПУБЛИКА" (People's Republic) arch cleanly over the upper border, positioned right above the lowercase word "ПОЩА" (Post). In the bottom left quadrant, the specific geographic location "МАЛЬОВИЦА" is typed in small Cyrillic script. The high face value of 15 leva (abbreviated as "15 лв") is cleanly set in a stylized white font in the lower right, balancing perfectly with the bold country name "БЪЛГАРИЯ" anchoring the bottom margin. This specific specimen retains its full original borders and sharp, uniform comb perforations on all sides.
