Monolith of the Soda Works

Under Review

Description: This vintage commemorative postage stamp was issued by the People's Republic of Bulgaria (НР БЪЛГАРИЯ) to celebrate industrial modernization. The central vignette portrays a sprawling layout of the Karl Marx Soda Factory in Devnya, showcasing its detailed geometric concrete structures, silos, and two massive, smoking vertical chimneys. Executed in a single dark slate-green or black-olive ink via precise photogravure, the upper banner features a dual-line Cyrillic inscription reading "БЪЛГАРО-СЪВЕТСКА ДРУЖБА" (Bulgarian-Soviet Friendship) followed directly by "СОДОВ ЗАВОД · КАРЛ МАРКС" (Soda Factory · Karl Marx). The denomination 2 ст. (2 stotinki) stands out in a bold, stylized white font in the lower-left corner alongside the word "ПОЩА" (Post). The official state name "НР БЪЛГАРИЯ" completes the lower margin. This specific unused specimen is well-centered with sharp, regular comb perforations and bright, unblemished ivory edges.
