First Bulgarian Truck

Under Review

Description: This vintage postage stamp features a dark reddish-brown and cream illustration celebrating postwar industrial achievement. The central graphic highlights the very first commercial truck produced in Bulgaria, resting proudly on a plinth marked with the year 1949. Behind the automobile, two flags ripple dramatically in the wind to emphasize national achievement. The top cyrillic text reads "Първият български камион" translating directly to "The First Bulgarian Truck". A prominent denomination of 4 Leva is printed on the upper left corner, while the base designates the country as "Н. Р. България" (People's Republic of Bulgaria).

Circa: 1951

Condition: Unused - Hinged

Notes:

The image on the stamp commemorates the manufacturing year of 1949, but the physical stamp series itself was not officially introduced to post offices until early 1951. It belonged to a special socialist "Bulgarian Industry" definitive series designed by artist Pavel Valkov to boost national pride.
