Heraldic Lion Olive Definitives

Under Review

Description: This vintage definitive postage stamp from Belgium is printed in a muted olive-green ink on an off-white, cream paper stock. The central artwork highlights a stylized heraldic lion rampant, a historic symbol derived from the medieval Leo Belgicus and traditional coat of arms. Superimposed over the body of the roaring creature is a prominent, large numeral "30" accented with a smaller "c", representing a face value of 30 centimes. The main subject rests upon a background made entirely of an engraved, fine crosshatched grid pattern. Curving along the lower border, the dual-language inscription reads "BELGIQUE BELGIE" to give equal representation to the nation's French and Dutch-speaking citizens. The stamp features clear comb perforations and bears a light, wavy black ink postal cancellation mark slicing across the upper-right corner.
