Description: This vibrant orange definitive postage stamp features a beautifully engraved illustration of a kangaroo set against a classic Australian landscape. The marsupial is positioned on a grassy slope, framed by a prominent eucalyptus tree to its right and rolling hills fading into the background. The word "POSTAGE" is cleanly inscribed along the upper border, while "AUSTRALIA" anchors the lower margin. The face value of "1/2 D" (halfpenny) is elegantly nestled in the bottom left quadrant. This particular specimen features a bold black typographic slogan cancellation stamped over the design. The visible letters spell out a portion of a public service or safety message, reading "...PRECIOUS HELP PREVENT...", a common theme used on mid-century machine cancellations to raise public awareness.

Circa: 1937-1949

Condition: Used - Hinged

Notes:

Affectionately known to philatelists as the "Halfpenny Orange Roo," this issue holds the record as the longest-surviving definitive stamp design of Australia's pre-decimal era.
