Star of Bethlehem

Under Review

Description: The stamp features an engraved pictorial vignette rendered in a deep violet or reddish-purple monochrome ink, showcasing the Holy Family surrounded by humble visitors. In the center, the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph look down tenderly over the infant Jesus, who lies cradled in the manger next to a large earthenware pottery jar. Standing and kneeling to the left are two adoring shepherds, one holding a classic wooden crook staff as they pay their respects. Blazing directly above the scene is a stylized, multi-pointed celestial star that casts a radiating beam of light downward across the entire frame. The upper border is boldly inscribed with the phrase "CHRISTMAS 1958," balanced on the right by the face value denomination "4d," while the base of the design is anchored by the prominent country name "AUSTRALIA."
