Under Review

Material: White metal

Size: 50 mm w x 27 mm h

Description: The insignia is an official regular pattern uniform collar badge, die-pressed from high-grade white metal. The visual framework is constructed around a pair of intertwined circular wreaths, with the left ring rendered as dense myrtle leaves and the right ring composed of detailed butcher's broom leaves. Nestled inside the left wreath is a highly detailed, left-facing wild boar's head resting above an elegant, curved scroll that bears the raised Latin motto "NE OBLIVISCARIS" (Do not forget). The right wreath frames a fierce Scottish wildcat standing upright on its hind legs in a defensive posture, positioned directly above a matching scroll inscribed with the Old French motto "SANS PEUR" (Without fear). Linking the upper curves of the twin wreaths is a prominent heraldic label bar accented by three decorative drops and a centralized heraldic rose, while the reverse features a deep hollow strike fitted with its original dual copper wire loops (lugs) to pin it securely onto the uniform collar lapel.

Circa: 1948-1960

Notes:

This badge belongs to the 41st Battalion, The Byron Scottish Regiment, part of the post-war Citizen Military Forces in Australia.
