Returned Servicemen’s Club Watsonia Membership Pendant

Under Review

Material: Gilt brass with black and white enamel

Size: 30 mm × 36 mm

Description: This vintage membership badge originates from Australia and was issued by the Watsonia Returned Servicemen's Club, located in a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. The badge features an ornate, shield-like scalloped perimeter struck in heavy brass or gilding metal with an integrated circular suspension loop at the very top. The central design displays a striking array of tri-service military iconography rendered in polished gold plating against a smooth, black enamel field. A horizontally aligned service rifle crosses over a vertically positioned aircraft propeller and a naval anchor, seamlessly representing the army, air force, and navy elements. The upper half is framed by an arched white enamel banner inscribed with the text "RETURNED SERVICEMEN'S CLUB", while a matching white scroll at the base proudly denotes the local branch location name "WATSONIA".

Reverse: Plain gilt finish, engraved NOT TRANSFERABLE / 443 / A.J. PARKES., with suspension hole for a chain or keyring.

Circa: 1950–1970s

Notes:

Issued to members of the Returned Servicemen’s Club in Watsonia, Victoria, this pendant reflects the social and commemorative culture of post-war veterans’ clubs in Australia. Its numbered, non-transferable form gives it a more personal and club-specific character than a standard lapel badge.
