Description: This vintage definitive postage stamp from Argentina is printed in a striking, monochromatic vermilion orange-red ink on an off-white cream paper stock. The main vignette showcases a finely detailed, engraved bust portrait of General José de San Martín, the esteemed national hero, looking slightly toward the left. He is depicted in his formal military attire, complete with an intricately embroidered high collar, epaulets, and decorative uniform patterns etched along his chest. The top edge of the design features his military title and name, "GRAL. JOSE DE SAN MARTIN," laid out in a clean sans-serif typeface. Positioned directly below this inscription in the upper left corner is the face value "40c", which establishes a denomination of forty centavos. The country name "ARGENTINA" anchors the composition in bold, solid white lettering nestled inside a dedicated horizontal border running along the lower baseline. The physical item is bordered by crisp, standard comb perforations and retains an unused appearance without any heavy ink cancellation markings.
