Description: This stamp is a beautiful definitive postal issue from the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, abbreviated in French as TAAF. Finely engraved in an understated palette of dark brown, blue-grey, and black ink on off-white paper, the visual layout depicts a magnificent sooty albatross, or Albatros Fuligineux, glissading against a backdrop of steep, jagged subantarctic glaciers and sea ice. The top margin displays the text "ALBATROS FULIGINEUX" on the left, balanced by the French Republic postal shorthand "RF" and a vertical layout of "POSTES" on the right. A clear currency denomination of "0F 30" (30 French centimes) stands boldly in the lower right quadrant. The entire baseline is grounded by the territories' formal administrative designation, "TERRES AUSTRALES ET ANTARCTIQUES FRANÇAISES".
