Description: This vintage definitive postage stamp was issued by the administration of the French Southern and Antarctic Territories (Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises, or TAAF). The vertical design features a 0,50 Franc face value and depicts a pair of macaroni or rockhopper penguins standing together on a rocky, textured shoreline. Both birds prominently show their characteristic spiky, swept-back yellow head crests, rendered in an accent tone that stands out against their finely detailed blue and black plumage. The background reveals a calm sea under a subtly stippled, atmospheric polar sky. The inscription "TERRES AUSTRALES ET ANTARCTIQUES FRANCAISES" frames the top margin, while "POSTES" and "RF" (République Française) occupy the left and bottom left corners. The lower border identifies the specific habitat location as "ARCHIPEL des CROZET" directly alongside the numeric denomination block.
