Sentinel of the Red Sea Gates

Under Review

Description: This vintage pictorial postage stamp was issued by the British Colony of ADEN to highlight its strategic geographical position along global trade routes. The main vignette features a dual-color recess-engraved map of the region, meticulously outlining the Red Sea, the Horn of Africa labeled as "Africa", the Arabian Peninsula labeled as "Arabia", and the sprawling "Indian Ocean". The specific territory of "ADEN" is explicitly highlighted inside a solid black block at the center of a intersecting coordinate grid marked with "15° N" and "45° E" lines. In the upper right corner sits a prominent, circular cameo portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in profile, surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown. The left corner displays the denomination in Arabic script, balanced at the bottom margin by the English text "ADEN 50 CENTS". This used specimen shows authentic historical character, featuring a crisp, multi-line wavy black slogan cancel sweeping across the right side of the face.
